Redland City Council is urgently seeking phone service volunteers to support Redlands Wildlife Rescue.

The program includes the Redlands Wildlife Care Network (RWCN), a phone service staffed by trained volunteers in their own home.

The responsibilities of RWCN volunteers include:

  • providing advice to callers about sick, injured or orphaned animals,
  • organising a wildlife carer for animals in need,
  • providing knowledge and education regarding animal behaviour, and
  • referring callers to the organisation that can best assist them.

The RWCN operates between 8am and 5pm every day.

Full training is provided, with an induction session for new RWCN volunteers to be held at Redlands IndigiScapes Centre on Thursday 11 April from 9am to noon.

More information, including how to apply for the induction session, is available on Council’s Volunteer for wildlife rescue webpage.

The other service offered by Redland Wildlife Rescue is the Redlands After-hours Wildlife Ambulance that operates from 5pm to 8am every day.

To report sick and injured wildlife to the Redlands 24-hour Wildlife Rescue service, phone 3833 4031.
