Redlands Coast is one step closer to securing funding for new infrastructure projects which build a legacy in the community under the $285 million South East Queensland Liveability Fund.
Redland City Council was among 11 eligible local governments invited to submit expressions of interest (EOI) for new funding under the SEQ City Deal to deliver projects that will help build healthier, liveable and more inclusive, connected communities.
The Australian and Queensland governments, and Redland City Council have allocated $12.68 million for local projects through the SEQ Liveability Fund.

Council will now be invited to submit detailed applications for these proposed projects:
- Lighting upgrades at multiple sporting venues in the Redlands Coast region
- Upgrade to elements of the William Taylor Memorial Sportsfield, Thorneside
The Australian Government, Queensland Government and Council of Mayors (SEQ) have partnered to establish the SEQ Liveability Fund as one of the key commitments being delivered under the SEQ City Deal.
Projects could include new parks and initiatives that improve access to quality public open spaces and the natural environment, as well as community infrastructure that complements new housing supply or urban renewal.
Eligible councils could also apply for funding for regional sporting and recreation facilities to drive engagement in local sport in the lead-up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Redlands Coast will be a host venue during the Brisbane 2032 Games with canoe slalom events proposed for the Redland Whitewater Centre to be built at Birkdale Community Precinct.
A final decision on SEQ Liveability Fund projects will be made by the State and Federal governments after assessment of detailed applications later this year.
