Redland City Council would like to remind people donating goods to the families affected by Sunday morning’s tragic house fire on Russell Island, to be mindful of the best way to get their items to those who need them.

We respectfully ask that you do not send unrequested donations of goods over to the island via ferry or barge.

Council is working with the GIVIT organisation to manage the donation of goods.

GIVIT’s website is an efficient way of donating directly to people in need without overwhelming local charities on the ground. You are able to donate money, goods and services at givit.org.au

Financial donations can also be made through the Redland Foundation at redlandfoundation.org.au/donate

Tribute sites to be combined

The Sel Outridge Park tribute site established for the victims of the Russell Island blaze will close as of 4pm today, Thursday 10 August.

All flowers and tributes currently at the park at Peel Street, Redland Bay, will be transferred to the Bay Island Memorial Gardens tribute site at High Street on Russell Island.
