To celebrate National Recycling Week (12 to 18 November), Redland City Council is offering a special deal on upsizing household recycling bins.

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said Council was waiving the one-off bin establishment fee when households upgraded from a regular size (240 litre) recycling bin to a large (340 litre) recycling bin.

“That is a saving of $30,” she said.

“What’s more, swapping to the bigger bin costs no extra on your rates.”

Cr Williams encouraged Redlands Coast residents to continue recycling, and said more information about Council’s household recycling and green waste collection services would be available at a National Recycling Week display at Stockland Shopping Centre, Middle Street, Cleveland (Coles side) on Monday 12 November from 9am to 4pm.

“Arts-and-craft fun, transforming non-recyclable items into useful and beautiful objects, will also be available at the display,” she said.

“National Recycling Week provides a great opportunity for us all to make sure we are doing our bit to recycle right at home.

“I urge everyone to familiarise themselves with what can and can’t be recycled, as well as what contaminants should be kept out of recycling bins such as plastic bags.  If you’re unsure what should go where, visit Council’s website.”

To upgrade your recycling bin during National Recycling Week, visit redland.qld.gov.au/waste from 12 to 18 November 2018 (conditions apply).
