A fire is currently burning on Russell Island in the swamp area south of Stradbroke Street.
The fire is within containment lines but is causing large amounts of smoke particularly around Stradbroke Street which has been closed by Queensland Police Service.
Rural Fire Service, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services – QFES, Redland SES Unit, Queensland Police and Council are on hand and two rotary aircrafts are currently undertaking aerial bombing of the fire.
