Education-based tourism was at the centre of the Redlands involvement with the 7th City Welcome Festival on the Cultural Forecourt at South Bank recently.

This is Queensland’s largest international student event, billed as “the ultimate welcome experience” for new and existing international students.

Redland City Council was helped on the stand by Straddie Camping and Lamb Island Bed and Breakfast in representing a wide range of local operators and providing information on the many experiences students can have during their time in the City.

Council sees enormous potential in harnessing the excellence of local schools to attract more international students to the Redlands.

Brisbane already hosts more than 75,000 international students a year from more than 140 countries.

Early in March, Redland City Council also attended the Australia Tourism Export Council’s annual Southern Queensland inbound workshop. It was a fabulous opportunity for the Redlands to present to 45 of Australia’s leading inbound tour operators.
