Swap your weeds for trees

It is time to get into the garden and pull out those pesky weeds ahead of our Trees for Weeds Days. You’ll be able to claim a free native plant in exchange for each plastic shopping bag of weeds you bring in (up to five per person).

Where: IndigiScapes Nursery, 17 Runnymede Road, Capalaba

Council’s weed experts will be available for advice on managing your weeds. The native plant nursery will also be open for sales if you’d like to grow your garden! You can bring any weeds in, but this year’s focus weeds for our mainland event are Wild Tobacco, Chinese Burr, Morning Glory, Green Cestrum.

Island events

When: Saturday 15 August 2015, 8.30-10.30am

Five locations:

Coochiemudlo Island Jetty

Macleay Island Progress Hall (2 Russell Tce)

Karragarra Island Foreshore Park (The Esplanade)

Russell Island Public Pool Carpark (High Street)

You can bring in any weeds, but this year’s focus weeds for the islands are Mile a Minute and Mother of Millions.
