Step out on one of Redlands Coast’s award-winning tracks and trails

Looking for a spectacular track, trail or walkway that will take your breath away? You’re in the right place on Redlands Coast – two track experiences from the east and west of our naturally wonderful city have recently won awards that put them at the top of your ‘must do’ list.

The fabulous trail network of the Eastern Escarpment Hinterland Experience at Mount Cotton was recently a national winner at the 2022 Parks and Leisure Australia Awards of Excellence, while the Minjerribah Panorama Coastal Walk on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah) won the $2 million to $5 million category of the 2022 Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (Queensland) Awards.

Mountain bikers travel from far and wide for the Eastern Escarpment Hinterland Experience on Redlands Coast.

For lush, unspoiled bushland, native wildlife and almost 30km of bushwalking, mountain-biking and horse-riding trails, the Eastern Escarpment Hinterland Experience is the place for you. Since opening in 2020, this trail network has become one of the most popular mountain biking destinations in south-east Queensland. With easy, intermediate and difficult multi-use trails, an infamous ‘black diamond’ trail for experienced mountain-bikers only, and four trails suitable for adaptive mountain bikes, this carefully planned network has something for every mountain bike enthusiast.

The stunning trail network of Eastern Escarpment Hinterland Experience offers both solid hiking and easy meandering.

However, it’s not just for mountain-bikers. With diverse ecosystems home to unique species of flora and fauna, the experience is also popular with bird-watchers, nature-lovers and hikers young and old. Whether you’re after a challenge to the top to enjoy the 180-degree views, or a more gentle meander up the mountain to immerse in the bushland surroundings, there’s a track to suit.

If sun, surf and rugged coastlines are more your thing, swap your sneakers for your sandals and check out the Minjerribah Panorama Coastal Walk on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah). This 400m walkway stretches along the Point Lookout headland between Snapper Street and Frenchmans Beach. Cliff-side boardwalks, viewing platforms and trails through the foreshore foliage make this walk an experience that highlights the values that make Minjerribah such a special place for so many. Perfect for land-based whale watching and taking in the ocean panorama, this walk is good for the soul.

Enjoy the ocean vistas of the outstanding Minjerribah Panorama Coastal Walk.

The next stage of the coastal walk is under way and due for completion in 2023, when residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a continuous walk all the way to the beautiful Gorge Walk and Point Lookout Village. Sun, surf, rugged coastlines and gelati – it’s a  great day out on Redlands Coast!

The Visit Redlands Coast website has more information about the Eastern Escarpment Hinterland Experience and adventures on Minjerribah.
