Redland Art Gallery, Capalaba will soon be toting a new exhibition with a local flavour that is sure to delight.

Project Tote – opening on Saturday 24 March and inspired by the art gallery volunteers’ love of the Redlands region – will feature photographs of their special Redlands spots printed onto reusable tote bags and displayed en masse.

“The Redland Art Gallery is very fortunate to have around 50 active volunteers whom contribute to the gallery on either our installation team or gallery reception desk.

“They make it possible for the gallery to deliver a constant stream of diverse, quality cultural offerings to our community so it is only right that we acknowledge and celebrate the contribution of our volunteers through Project Tote,” Cr Williams said.

The images, which truly reflect the beauty of the Redlands, have all been taken by gallery volunteers.

“These are the special spots of our volunteers, but we also encourage visitors to share their special places in the Redlands on a large scale map displayed with the exhibition,” Cr Williams said.

Mayor Karen Williams applauded the exhibition not only for its appreciation of the Redlands’ natural beauty, but also for its sustainability message.

“In line with other current Council initiatives, Project Tote recommends that we all consider using tote bags instead of plastic bags to help reduce rubbish and maintain the beautiful Redlands environment,” Cr Williams said.
