Public Notice: Systematic Inspection Program – Unregistered Cats and Unregistered Dogs

In accordance with the provisions of sections 113, 114 and 115 of the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008, and section 134 of the Local Government Act (2009), notice is hereby given that Redland City Council will conduct a three (3) month Systematic Cat and Dog Registration Inspection Program of the City.

The approved inspection program of residential and business premises within Redland City will run between Monday 9 January 2017 and Friday 7 April 2017.

Authorised officers will visit properties between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

Registration of cats and dogs is required annually, from the age of three (3) months.

The purpose of the program is:

To identify new cat and dog registrations, follow up on overdue cat and dog registrations and provide education to pet owners on responsible pet ownership.

Revenue received from animal registrations contributes to animal management activities including:

  • maintaining community safety,
  • providing pet ownership education,
  • enforcing the provisions of state and local laws,
  • responding to complaints,
  • providing an afterhours emergency response service and
  • enabling lost animals to be reunited with their owners.

A free copy of the approved inspection program will be available at Council’s Customer Service Centres, or via Council’s website.
