Watch out for koalas

The mercury may be falling but things are hotting up for our koalas with an early start to the breeding season this year. Not only are the adults on the move, but last year’s young are heading off to find their own space. Residents are likely to see koalas in some unexpected places, so please keep an eye out for them, especially when driving.

We’re in the ‘hearing’ loop

Amplification systems that make it easier for hearing-impaired residents to pick up the speaker’s voice and other important audio have been installed at the main community facilities across the Redlands, including Council Chambers, Customer Service Centres, mainland libraries, Redland Performing Arts Centre (RPAC), the Donald Simpson Centre and community halls at Capalaba, Thorneside, Redland Bay, Point Lookout (North Stradbroke Island), Macleay Island and Russell Island.

Contact staff at these centres for assistance using the amplification system.

Welcome of the Whales festival

When: Saturday 25 July, 11am-4pm

Where: Mooloomba (Point Lookout), Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island)

As part of the celebration enjoy whale-watching tours, cultural tours, traditional dance, arts and craft, weaving, workshops, food, music and an opportunity to watch the whales play.
