Redland City Council today approved $120,000 in expenditure to create a new Multi-sports precinct at Donald Road, Redland Bay.
Divisional Councillor Julie Talty said the new sports precinct was an important health and lifestyle investment for the City.
“Today’s decision sees $60,000 of operational savings allocated to this project and a further $60,000 of next year’s capital budget brought forward to allow works to start this financial year.

“It is important to plan for expected population growth in southern Redland City by investing in sporting and recreational infrastructure,” Cr Talty said.
“This project addresses the shortage of sports fields in the southern part of the city and is great news for local sporting groups.”
Councillor Mark Edwards said the Weinam Creek Multi-sports precinct would see some of Council’s public open space land transformed into a new community recreational resource.
“We want to provide grounds that will allow soccer, rugby union, rugby league and touch football to be played at this space,” Cr Edwards said.
“The project will provide a great playing surface for junior and senior players in the Redlands.”
