More than $286,000 has been awarded to support community events and projects on Redlands Coast through the recent round of Redland City Council’s 2025–2026 Grants and Sponsorship Program.
This includes more than $111,000 in sponsorship and Quandamooka Cultural Awareness Funding to support seven community events, more than $96,000 for six capital infrastructure projects, and almost $79,000 to assist 15 local community organisations with organisational support, conservation initiatives and one-off projects.
Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell said Council provided the financial assistance to support projects and events that benefitted the community.

“Grant and sponsorship funding is one way in which Council is helping to enhance both the diversity and quality of community facilities, services, programs and community-based events across the city,” the Mayor said.
“This not only helps to enhance the vibrancy of our region but also provides services to support the wellbeing of people of all ages and abilities.
“This will be the last time Council awards funding under these programs, with new Events on Redlands Coast and Stronger Communities Grant Programs being offered from January 2026.”
Council sponsorship supports a range of cultural, community and sporting events across Redlands Coast.
This includes Redland City Choir performances of Handel’s Messiah at Redland Performing Arts Centre, STAR Community Services’ Community Celebration for volunteers, Heritage Artisan Faire workshops at Redlands Coast Museum, and an annual Diwali-Indian Multicultural Festival.
Major sporting events sponsored are the 2026 Straddie Salute Triathlon, 2026 Softball Australia State Championships and the Redlands MTB Rumble: Rocky Trail Academy and Fox Superflow Racing.
Capital infrastructure grants enable organisations to build, renovate or refurbish community facilities.
Recipients include Redlands United Football Club, which received a major capital infrastructure grant to convert two fields to LED lighting.
Smaller grants have been awarded to:
- Macleay Island Bowls Club – kitchen splashback upgrade
- Redlands Coast Art Society – shed and installation
- Redlands Church of Christ – repairing community event space in The Bush Oasis Op Shop and Café
- Redland Bay Men’s Shed – resolve excessive noise in main meeting area
- Redland Yurara Art Society – replacement of air conditioning units.
The Mayor said Community Grants funding had been awarded in three categories – organisation support, project support and conservation support.
“Council is helping community groups improve their organisational governance and management practices with funding for projects such as the development of a new constitution, updates to strategic plans, implementation of a new referee education and training program, and upskilling volunteers with first aid and CPR training,” the Mayor said.
“Council has also awarded funding towards a Redlands Youth Futures Expo, first aid and CPR training for volunteers, and a volunteer development program.
“Conservation support includes funding for wildlife and koala rescue and rehabilitation equipment and a bay islands clean-up project.”
