Redland City Council has provided funding to help nine organisations hold free events for young people on Redlands Coast to celebrate Queensland Youth Week (7 to 13 April 2024).

The not-for-profit community and sporting organisations received funding through Council’s 2024 Activate Redlands Coast Youth Week program to deliver activities for young people aged from 12 to 24.

The activities, to be held on both the mainland and North Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah, include collage and music workshops, a silent disco, a gaming event, golf, tennis and lifesaving clinics, fishing days and a football event.

The Activate Redlands Coast Youth Week funding initiative was one of the outcomes identified in the Redlands Coast Young People’s Action Plan 2024-27 that was endorsed by Council in January.

About 24,700 young people aged 12-24 years live on Redlands Coast, representing 15.5 per cent of the Redland City population.

Council’s vision for 2027 is to build safe, strong and self-reliant communities that provide our young people with good access to social infrastructure and services, housing options, welcoming open spaces and a range of suitable sport, recreational, cultural, educational and employment opportunities.
