Australia Day public holiday closures on 26 January 2023

Council Offices & Customer Service Centres

Redland City Council offices and customer service centres will be closed on Thursday 26 January 2023, returning to regular operating hours on Friday 27 January.

Normal bin services will occur on the public holiday.

Remember to put your bin out the night before as trucks start collecting from 6am.

Recycling and Waste Centres

  • Birkdale: open from 7am-5.30pm (must arrive before 5.15pm).
  • Redland Bay: open from 7am-5.30pm (must arrive before 5.15pm).
  • Coochiemudlo Island: closed on Thursdays.
  • Karragarra Island: open during daylight hours.
  • Lamb Island: open during daylight hours.
  • North Stradbroke Island: open 8am-2pm.
  • Macleay Island: open 8am-2pm.
  • Russell Island: open 8am-2pm.

RecycleWorld Redland Bay

RecycleWorld Redland Bay is closed on the public holiday but will open as normal on Friday 27 January. (Normal opening hours for the facility are Tuesdays and Fridays from 10am to 2pm.)

Redland City Council offices and customer service centres will be closed on Australia Day.

Redland City Council Libraries

The libraries and after-hours return chutes will be closed on Thursday 26 January 2023. Any items due on this day can be returned from 27 January.

Redland Animal Shelter

The Redland Animal Shelter will be open 9am-12pm on the public holiday.

Redlands IndigiScapes Centre & Nursery

Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, Café, Botanic Gardens and Nursery will be closed on the Australia Day public holiday.  The walking trails will remain open.

Redland Performing Arts Centre

The RPAC box office will be closed on the public holiday. For online bookings visit www.rpac.com.au

The centre will be open in the morning for a citizenship ceremony only.

Redland Art Gallery

The gallery at Cleveland will be closed for refurbishment.

The gallery at Capalaba is closed on Thursday 26 January and reopens at 9am on Friday 27 January.

Redlands Coast Visitor Information Centre

The centre in the Raby Bay Harbour Precinct will be open from 9am-4pm. Phone 1300 667 386 or go to visitredlandscoast.com.au

Out of hours emergencies

For council-related emergencies, please phone 3829 8999 and you will be connected with the after hours service.
