Current weather forecasts show an increased risk of severe thunderstorms with damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall today and tomorrow for south-east Queensland.
The Bureau of Meteorology advises the storms may bring the risk of localised flash flooding.
Council reminds residents that the following sandbag stations are open all year round to assist residents to prepare:

Residents can collect up to 10 bags per vehicle – this is to ensure there is enough supply for everyone. Council will monitor these locations and replenish, when possible and weather permitting.
The following 24-hour self-service sandbagging stations are open on the islands (sand and bags supplied. Please take your own shovel):
- Dunwich, Council Depot, 11-37 Mitchell Crescent, North Stradbroke Island.
- Russell Island, Council Depot, 6 Cambridge Road.
- Macleay Island, Council Depot, 22-24 Scarborough Terrace.
- Lamb Island, Council Shed, 12 Lucas Drive.
- Coochiemudlo Island, Fire Station, 45 Elizabeth Street.
- Karragarra Island, Fire Station, 11 Noyes Parade.
Please note, enclosed shoes must be worn at all Council sandbagging stations.
