Seventeen community groups will share in more than $88,000 in Redland City Council grant funding to help with organisation and project support.
Mayor Jos Mitchell said the funding was awarded through round 2 of Council’s 2024-2025 Community Grants program.
“These grants support community projects and activities that benefit a wide cross section of the community, with many of the projects initiated and managed primarily by volunteers,” the Mayor said.
“The diversity of successful applicants illustrates the range of initiatives supported by Council’s grants program, encompassing sporting and arts groups, social and community groups, and churches.
“More than half the funding awarded in this round has been allocated to organisation support such as risk management and compliance projects, website redevelopment, updating bylaws or constitution, a trauma workshop and strategic planning.”
The Mayor said funding had also been awarded to six organisations for one-off projects, events or activities.
“Grants have been awarded for a performance showcase, sports awards, a Christmas celebration, an art trail, table tennis training and improved garden beds in a community garden,” she said.
“All these projects and activities deliver benefits to the broader community.”
Council has awarded almost $165,700 in grants through two rounds of funding in the 2024-2025 Community Grants program across the categories of organisation support, project support and conservation.
A further $190,998 has been allocated to nine community organisations through the 2024-2025 Capital Infrastructure grant program.
