Redlands Coast community organisations planning events and activities for Queensland Seniors Month in October can now apply for funding from Redland City Council.
Mayor Jos Mitchell said the Seniors Month Funding Program aimed to support initiatives that promoted positive ageing, facilitated community participation and enhanced social connections.
“Seniors Month is about celebrating our older residents and recognising their ongoing contributions to the community, whether they are in the workforce, are volunteers, community leaders or advocates, and as carers and grandparents,” the Mayor said.
“Council is committed to supporting an age-friendly community where seniors can lead healthy and fulfilling lives, and where they can contribute in ways of their choosing.
“Funding initiatives that support older adults is one of the actions in Council’s Redlands Coast Age-friendly Action Plan 2021-2026.
“Events and activities funded by these grants will provide opportunities for seniors to connect, engage and participate in activities that promote health, wellbeing and social inclusion.
“The activities can be active or passive in nature and cater to both our most energetic seniors and those with limited opportunities to get out and about.”
Initiatives supported with Council funding last year included a seniors expo, arts and crafts show, health workshops and activities, chair games and pickleball sessions.
Community organisations can apply for up to $2000.
Applications close at 5pm on Sunday 22 June 2025.
