It was the biggest post-disaster power restoration in Queensland’s history but the power’s back on across Tropical Cyclone Alfred’s strike zone.

In total, Energex managed 500,000 impacted customers, 9000 km of line patrols, and 1600 downed powerlines.

Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell thanked Energex crews for their tireless work to restore power to Redlands Coast communities.

“We are very grateful to the Energex teams who braved the elements to get power back on across our city, including our 6 island communities. Power to all Energex serviced areas has been restored and we are continuing the recovery process,” she said.

If you are still having connection issues, Energex advises that there will always be secondary faults after a disaster.

Deputy Mayor and Disaster Recovery Group chair Julie Talty said that while the power may be on, some properties may still not be safe to reconnect.

“After a weather event, repairs may be necessary to the customer’s point of attachment where the service line connects power to your property from the electricity network. In some cases, Energex may have disconnected it for safety,” she said.
