Applications are now open for round two of Redland City Council’s 2024–2025 Sponsorship Program.

Mayor Jos Mitchell said the program provided community groups with funding and value in-kind support to help them deliver events, activities and initiatives for the Redlands Coast community.

“More than $104,000 has been awarded so far as part of the 2024–2025 program, supporting everything from sport tournaments and social events to a multicultural festival and wedding trail,” the Mayor said.

“The successful applicants included prominent local groups such as Redlands United Football Club, Brisbane Bayside South Indian Association, Rotary Club of Capalaba, STAR Community Services, and Redlands Spring Festival.

“Council also awarded more than $10,000 in Quandamooka Cultural Awareness funding to seven organisations during the last round, helping them deliver meaningful inclusion and cultural activities at their events.

“Wynnum Manly Seagulls Rugby League Club was one of the successful applicants and put their allocation towards the annual reconciliation match held at Ron Stark Oval on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah).

“The match was a wonderful spectacle for the community and was backed-up off the field with an array of community activities such as market stalls, tourism promotion activities, and community health clinics.

“Council has been a proud sponsor of this event for many years and is looking forward to helping a new cohort of local groups deliver activities for the community.”

Applicants are asked to align their initiative and events with one or more of the program objectives, which includes promoting collaboration, boosting the local economy, increasing social connections and creating a sense of place.

An assessment panel judges each application and awards funding across three categories: Major Sponsorship (up to $30,000), Minor Sponsorship ($15,000 or under), and Quandamooka Cultural Awareness Funding (up to $1500).

“The aim of the program is to support events, initiatives and activities that directly benefit the local community and the Redlands Coast economy,” the Mayor said.

“I encourage all community organisations to consider applying for the latest funding round before applications close on Sunday 9 March.”

Applications will only be accepted via Council’s online portal, SmartyGrants.
