Tickets are now on sale for the 22nd annual Redland City Mayoral Chaplaincy Prayer Breakfast that raises funds for chaplaincy programs in Redlands Coast state schools.

The annual breakfast has raised more than $220,000 in the past 10 years and Mayor Jos Mitchell said she was happy to continue Mayoral support for this year’s event to be held on 30 October 2024 at the Alexandra Hills Hotel and Conference Centre.

“This breakfast brings the community together to raise funds for programs that benefit more than 15,000 local students each year,” the Mayor said.

“Chaplaincy programs provide social, emotional and spiritual support for students, school staff and families through mentoring, role modelling and pastoral care that enhance wellbeing and educational outcomes.

“We have a fabulous guest speaker for the breakfast – Phil Smith who is a community pastor, author and former reporter and Royal Australian Air Force officer.

“I am sure Phil will have many interesting and inspiring stories to tell from his time working in news, current affairs and documentaries and serving on six humanitarian and peace keeping missions.”

The Mayor said nominations were also open for the fifth annual Pastor Glen Gray Award, the winner of which would be announced at the breakfast.

“The Pastor Glen Gray Award recognises an outstanding school chaplain on Redlands Coast who has demonstrated significant social, emotional and spiritual support to students, parents and school employees,” she said.

“Nominations are welcome for any chaplain employed within Redlands Coast schools, whether state, Catholic or independent.”

There are also sponsorship opportunities available for the event.

More information on the Redland City Mayoral Chaplaincy Prayer Breakfast – including how to buy tickets, nominate a chaplain for the Pastor Glen Gray Award, or become a sponsor – is available on Council’s website at redland.qld.gov.au/mcpb
