Calling all artists and creatives on Redlands Coast – Redland City Council is seeking applicants for its enhanced artist development program.

Mayor Jos Mitchell said PASSAGE, which was launched in 2022, would now be delivered as a 12-month program, providing a deeper commitment to the cultural life of artists and residents across Redland Coast.

“PASSAGE provides a professional incubator to create opportunities for emerging and established artists to develop skills with, and alongside, industry professionals,” the Mayor said.

“It also allows them to experiment with new and innovative ideas and ways of working.

“Five artists, collectives or groups of artists will be supported through the program to develop new work.

“They will have access to spaces within the city’s arts and cultural resources, including Redland Performing Arts Centre and Redland Art Gallery.

“Artists will also receive mentoring and access to a professional development series that includes networking events and workshops designed to enhance industry skills and build professional connections, guidance on documentation and promotion, and potential opportunities for future collaborations.

“Redlands Coast has a thriving arts and culture sector and PASSAGE underpins Council’s commitment to, and investment in, promoting the role and value of creative expression and artistic development as key drivers of diverse, vibrant and connected communities.”

PASSAGE is open to individual artists or groups of artists with a clear connection to Redlands Coast.

Applications for the PASSAGE Artist Development Program close on 7 October 2024.

PASSAGE is delivered by Redland City Council in partnership with the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
