Get ready to celebrate World Environment Day in style when ABC Gardening Australia’s Costa Georgiadis and Council’s Principal Adviser – Community Education and former Totally Wild presenter Ranger Stacey Thomson team up in an interactive Q&A session at Redlands IndigiScapes Centre’s annual Environment and Community Fair on Saturday 1 June 2024.

In an exciting day of eco-consciousness and fun, Costa will also host an environmentally themed workshop for the Redlands Coast community.

Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell said the free-entry event would include other environmental workshops, speakers, performers, and eco-friendly markets, all set among the native botanic garden surrounds for which IndigiScapes was renowned.

“This special day will be a memorable experience for people of all ages, blending celebrity gardening, education, entertainment, and opportunities to explore ideas for more sustainable ways of living,” she said.

“We’re delighted Costa will be joining us here in the beautiful, diverse environment we have on Redlands Coast.

“Of course, visitors to the fair can also meet and hear from our very own Ranger Stacey.

“From bush to bay, there is much to celebrate about Redlands Coast and this fair will shine the spotlight on everything worth protecting here.”

The Mayor said IndigiScapes Native Nursery also would be open on the day from 9am for advice on native plants for the garden.

“I encourage our community to come along, grab a great coffee or something to eat from IndigiCafe, enjoy the celebrity visit, the activities, exhibits and markets, and explore ways to make environmentally positive changes at home, work, and in the community,” she said.

“There are things we can all do to help keep our Redlands Coast environment naturally wonderful, and this fair will offer plenty of ideas for everyone.”

Division 7 Councillor Rowanne McKenzie said Costa’s visit was an exciting highlight in the range of great activities that would be on offer at the fair.

“Once again, the Redlands Coast community will come together at IndigiScapes to celebrate our environment and enjoy the outstanding line-up of entertainment, eco-based workshops and craft, and the many market stalls offering sustainable products,” she said.

“The centre and surrounds will be alive with colour, sound and a vibrant atmosphere, while the wildlife show will bring some special animal friends to the stage.

“This annual event is truly a family-friendly day with something for everyone to enjoy.”
