More funding will soon flow to the creative industries sector on Redlands Coast, with applications now open for round two of the 2023-24 Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).

The program, which is delivered through a partnership between Redland City Council and the Queensland Government, is designed to support professional and emerging artists and arts workers on Redlands Coast.

Grants support activities that activate local spaces, strengthen the arts industry and elevate First Nations artists, with previous recipients staging events ranging from workshops and writing festivals to Quandamooka immersion events, comedy shows and concerts.

Grants up to $10,000 are available across nine categories – community arts and cultural development; visual arts, craft and design; multi-arts; music; theatre; writing; dance; developing regional skills; and heritage.

Council awarded more than $33,000 to five groups during round one, adding to the more than $90,000 distributed during the 2022-23 financial year.

Previous recipients include Sing Sing Sing Dementia Choir, Island Storytellers Writers and Readers Festival, and the Macleay Island Inspirational Writers Group.

Individual artists, groups and organisations are invited to apply for round two of the 2023-24 program before 1 April 2024.

Applicants must be based in Redland City or be able to demonstrate their project will directly benefit arts and culture on Redlands Coast.
