Council closures over the Christmas and New Year break

All non-essential Redland City Council services will be closed from close of business on Friday 22 December 2023 and will reopen on Tuesday 2 January 2024. This includes Customer Service Centres and Council’s Contact Centre.

Library services, Redland Performing Arts Centre, IndigiScapes, Redland Art Gallery, Redland Animal Shelter and Redlands Coast Visitor Information Centre will also have varied closures over the festive period.

Customer Service Centres

Cleveland and Capalaba will close from 4.30pm on Friday 22 December 2023 and re-open at 8.30am on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

Victoria Point will close from 5pm on Friday 22 December 2023 and re-open at 9am on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

Council’s Contact Centre (for telephone calls) will close at 4.30pm on Friday 22 December 2023 until 8.30am on Tuesday 2 January 2024. Council’s emergency service will operate during the closure period for Council-related emergencies.

Recycling and Waste Centres and waste collection services

Kerbside waste, recycling and green waste collections will continue as normal over the holiday period including Christmas Day. Collection services on Christmas Day will start earlier at 5am and for all other days please remember to put bins out before 6am on day of collection.

Park and street bin collections will also occur as scheduled.

For kerbside bins that were missed and not emptied between 26 December and 2 January, please phone the after hours number (3829 8999) to arrange a collection; online requests will not be actioned.

All Recycling and Waste Centres will be closed on Christmas Day and will operate normal opening hours at all other times. Check Council’s website for details. Increased visitors are expected during peak Christmas periods and changed traffic conditions are planned for Birkdale Recycling and Waste Centre. If possible, please avoid peak period of 10am – 2pm.

Online new bin/exchange/repair requests submitted after Wednesday 20 December 2023 will be actioned from Tuesday 2 January 2024.

RecycleWorld at Redland Bay: Last trading day is Friday 22 December 2023 and it will re-open on Tuesday 2 January 2024; usual trading times are Tuesday and Friday, 10am-2pm.

Redlands Coast Visitor Information Centre

Open 7 days a week, 9am-4pm, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and ANZAC Day. Phone 1300 667 386, email [email protected] or go to visitredlandscoast.com.au for more information.

Redland Animal Shelter

The Animal Shelter will be closed on Christmas Day only.

Limited opening hours (9am-12pm) apply from Tuesday 26 December 2023 up to and including Monday 1 January 2024.

Redland City Council Libraries

Capalaba, Cleveland and Victoria Point libraries: closed from 4pm on Saturday 23 December 2023 until 9am on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

Dunwich Library: closed from 1:00pm on Saturday 23 December 2023 until 9.30am on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

Point Lookout Library: closed from 5pm on Friday 22 December 2023 until 9.30am on Wednesday 3 January 2024.

Russell Island Library: closed from 1pm on Saturday 23 December 2023 until 9.30am on Wednesday 3 January 2024.

Mobile Library: Reopening 9am on Tuesday 2 January 2024 at the Victoria Point stop.

During closures, no items will be due and all after hours return chutes will be closed. The digital library will remain open – visit redland.qld.gov.au/libraries for ebooks, magazines, audiobooks and movies.

Redland Performing Arts Centre

The centre will be closed from 4pm on Friday 22 December 2023 and reopens at 9am on Monday 8 January 2024.

Tickets can be purchased through the RPAC website during this time.

Redland Art Gallery (RAG)

RAG, Cleveland will be closed from 4pm on Friday 22 December 2023 and reopen at 9am on Sunday 7 January 2024.

RAG, Capalaba will be closed from 4pm on Saturday 23 December 2023 and reopen at 9am on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

Redlands IndigiScapes Centre and Nursery, Capalaba

The IndigiScapes Centre and Botanic Gardens will be closed from 4pm on Friday 22 December 2023 and reopen at 8am on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

The walking trails will remain open, except the Fairy Wren Boardwalk.

The Native Nursery is now closed and will reopen at 10am on Monday 8 January 2024.

IndigiScapes Café is now closed and will reopen at 8am on Wednesday 2 January 2024.
