Playground equipment at Thornlands Community Park was damaged by fire about 2am on Monday 11 September 2023.

The remaining areas of the park remain open.

CCTV footage of the incident has been provided to Queensland Police Service.

Council will meet with the play equipment manufacturer and shade sail contractor this week to discuss replacement of the damaged equipment.

Vandalism disrupts the community’s use and enjoyment of facilities and comes at a significant cost to the community.

Anyone who notices acts of vandalism or arson is urged to report the incident to police, and not intervene.
