There are plenty of activities to keep children of all ages entertained on Redlands Coast during the September school holidays, from beading workshops and science experiments to camp cooking and animal encounters.
Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said events would be held at Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, Redland Performing Arts Centre (RPAC), Redland City Council Libraries and Redland Art Gallery.
“Local families and visitors will be spoilt for choice for things to do during the school holidays, whether your children are interested in arts and craft, birds and animals or fun games,” Cr Williams said.

“Spring is the perfect time to explore our naturally-wonderful outdoors and IndigiScapes offers a range of free nature-based activities.
“This includes a great adventure playground with a flying fox, wooden balance beam obstacle course, education trail and a hedge maze.
“Families can also play, explore and connect with nature using smartphone technology and augmented reality, with self-guided activities through the Agents of Discovery app.”
IndigiScapes will be hosting camp cooking session with Scouts Queensland, for a small cost, where children can learn how to bake a chocolate cake inside an orange and how to construct a cardboard box oven for sausage rolls.
Geckoes Wildlife will also be hosting sessions where children can get up close and personal with rare and unusual species of birds, marsupials and turtles found in south-east Queensland.
Cr Williams said the mainland libraries in Capalaba, Cleveland and Victoria Point were also hosting some fun events.
“Children will be able to get crafty with beading and colourful layered sand in a bottle, and channel their inner wizard with a Harry Potter-themed afternoon of games and craft,” she said.
“There will also be sessions of mini carnival games, an exploration of the miniature world of mosquitoes and an amazing stage show from Street Science.
“Our older teens have not been forgotten, with the monthly Anime X Club offering screenings and the opportunity to hone anime artistry skills, and a creative session using contemporary papercutting techniques.”
Redland Art Gallery, Cleveland will offer an Explore and Draw self-guided activity for young visitors. Drop into the gallery to collect the map.
The gallery will also host a family workshop where participants can make a wearable art bird mask inspired by the Asia Pacific Contemporary: Three Decades of APT exhibition on display at the gallery. Bookings are essential, with all information on the gallery’s website.
RPAC will host the regular Flipside Circus school holiday workshops, with sessions for children from four to 16 years.
