Redlands Coast residents are urged to keep out of floodwaters, with reports of young people surfing in flooded areas including at Hilliards Creek in Ormiston.
This is extremely dangerous. If you see this behaviour please report it to police on Triple 0.
There are large amounts of debris making their way down the river systems, including Logan River, and into Moreton Bay.

There is currently a marine wind warning, with boaties urged to use caution and avoid going out on the bay if they can.
People in areas prone to coastal erosion should be particularly vigilant.
Strong winds and rain to continue – beware fallen trees
Strong winds of up to 80km/hour are expected on Redlands Coast over the next several hours and again tomorrow morning, increasing the risk of fallen trees.
Do not attempt to remove fallen trees yourself. If trees are down on council property, such as parks or on roads, contact Redland City Council on 3829 8999.
For trees that have fallen on private properties or for other assistance contact SES on 132 500.
Stay away from fallen powerlines, warn others, and contact Energex on 13 19 62.
Council and SES crews responding
Redland City Council crews have been responding to a range of jobs including trees down, manhole covers that have lifted, and road and park flooding reports.
Redland SES Unit delivered more than 40 loads of sandbags to residents yesterday and more than 3000 sandbags have been collected from Redland City Council’s South Street, Cleveland, sandbagging station over the past few days.
Council sandbagging stations will remain open until tomorrow, Sunday 27 February.

Power restored – Russell Island
Energex has restored power to over 1100 homes on Russell Island, with the last 400 restored this afternoon.
Council services closed
For the safety of the public, Redland City Council has closed the following facilities:
- Birkdale and Redland Bay Recycling and Waste Centres closed at 1pm today Saturday 26 February and will reopen at 7am tomorrow, Sunday 27 February, weather permitting.
- The Native Botanic Gardens and Adventure Playground at Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, Capalaba, have closed.
- Please avoid using tracks and trails in Council conservation areas.
North Stradbroke Island vehicle ferry service affected:
- North Stradbroke Island – Sealink’s 5pm vehicle ferry from Cleveland and its 6pm vehicle ferry from Dunwich have been cancelled for today. All other vehicle and passenger ferry services are operating to regular timetables.
- Ferry services to the Southern Moreton Bay Islands of Russell, Macleay, Lamb and Karragarra Islands in Moreton Bay are operating as usual.
Island residents are urged to continue to check the ferry service website in case of changes. This is particularly important for island residents needing to get home this afternoon and tonight as debris from Logan River flows into Moreton Bay, with the potential to interrupt services due to safety.

- Regional Park, Capalaba
- John Frederick’s Park, including greyhound track, rugby and soccer fields, Capalaba
- Mount Cotton Community Park, Mount Cotton

- Avalon Road, Sheldon
- Pitt and Nelson Roads, Wellington Point
- Tulloch Drive, Wellington Point
- Redgrove Avenue, Wellington Point
- Mary Street, Birkdale
- Serpentine Creek Road, Redland Bay
- Mary Pleasant Drive, Birkdale
- Rickertt Road – Ransome/Thorneside
- Alan Day Drive, Wellington Point
- Corner of Collingwood and Spoonbill, Birkdale

Gurgling toilets
If you hear a gurgling noise in your toilet, it could be due to the volume of water going through the main. Check your overflow relief gully (ORG), located outside your house, is unobstructed.
