Bay Island Transit have advised that one late night passenger ferry service will run to the Southern Moreton Bay Islands (SMBIs) at 12:10am (early Saturday morning).

The ferry service will travel at a very slow 5-knots speed due to debris in the bay.

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said Translink staff will be at the ferry terminal to direct passengers to Redland City Council’s respite centre, located at the Redland Bay Community Hall, Weinam Street, Redland Bay.

“The respite centre hours have been extended until 12:10am to ensure passengers have somewhere to stay before the last ferry service,” she said.

“Island residents should continue to check with the Translink, particularly for night time travel over the coming days as services may continue to be limited or changed due to large debris from the flooded Logan River entering Moreton Bay.”

Ferry services are expected to resume on Saturday 1 April at 6.20 am from Russell Island.

The 5:30am Saturday morning vehicle barge to the SMBIs is to go ahead as planned at this stage. contact Stradbroke Ferries for more information.

The Southern Moreton Bay Islands include Russell, Lamb, Macleay and Karragarra islands.
