Nominations are now open for the Redlands’ annual Australia Day Awards, which recognise inspirational Redlanders and community groups for their contributions to the city.

Redland City Acting Mayor Wendy Boglary said the awards were a great way to let those who selflessly help make the city a better place, know that they were appreciated.

“Community spirit is strong in the Redlands and there are many fine examples of people doing wonderful things without any expectation of reward,’’ Cr Boglary said.

“These awards are a small way of saying thank you, on behalf of the city, to those who help make the Redlands such a great best place to live, visit and work.

“On Australia Day each year we pause to recognise what makes our nation great and the Redland City Australia Day Awards are a chance to also recognise those in our own community who epitomise the spirit of Australia each and every day.’’

Cr Boglary said the awards invariably drew many very worthy nominations.

“The calibre of past nominees and winners shows the high esteem these awards are held in; they have really come to symbolise the best of the best in terms of local community spirit,” she said.

“I have no doubt that the 2017 awards will again shine a light on the tremendous dedication to the community that we are blessed with in this city. “

To nominate, visit the website. You’ll also find information about award categories and conditions of entry.

Nominations close on Friday 18 November.
