2016 Council elections – are your details correct?

Redland City will go to the polls on Saturday 19 March along with councils across Queensland to elect a new Council and Mayor to serve the city for a further four years.

Residents have until 5pm this Friday to ensure their details are up to date and lodged with the Electoral Commission of Queensland.

Before the big day arrives Redland City Council is asking residents and potential candidates to be aware of the following key dates and information:

  • Enrol to vote or change your details: Voters must ensure they are registered with the Electoral Commission of Queensland and their details are correct before 5pm Friday 12 February, more information
  • Check your Division: As part of regular boundary reviews the Electoral Commission of Queensland made changes to divisional boundaries in Redland City last year, so all residents are encouraged to check which Division they are registered in.
  • Nominate as a candidate in the election: The deadline for candidates to lodge with the Electoral Commission of Queensland is noon Tuesday 16 February, more information.
  • Pre-polling: In person pre-polling commences 9am Monday 7 March at Redland Performing Arts Centre and 14 March at Redland Bay Community Hall (Weinam St, Redland Bay) and Capalaba Place (14 Noeleen Street, Capalaba). Pre-polling closes at all locations at 6pm Friday 18 March.
  • Postal voting: Pre-poll postal vote applications commence Saturday 6 February and close 7pm Wednesday 16 March. 
  • Cut-off for return of postal ballot material: All postal votes must be received by 6pm, Tuesday 29th March. 
  • Questions or more information:
    • You can ask questions in person to the Returning officer: Mr Harold Guy, operating out of Redland Performing Arts Centre (Middle Street Cleveland) Monday to Friday (9.00am to 5.00pm).
    • Call the Electoral Commission of Queensland on 1300 881 665.
    • Visit the Electoral Commission of Queensland website.

Polling booth locations will be announced closer to the election.

The elections are run by the Electoral Commission of Queensland.
