Do you love taking photos of our local flora and fauna? Or making short films that tell a story and make a difference?  Get your cameras snapping and rolling for a chance to win great prizes.

Redlands IndigiScapes Centre’s annual photography competition is now open, this year expanding to include a short film category.

The annual competition is a celebration of the diverse wildlife and habitats in Redlands.

With $500 prize money for the best overall wildlife photograph and a number of other categories with cash prizes, there is great incentive to get outside and capture images of local wildlife.

For budding future photographers, there is also a junior category for kids.

A first in 2015, the competition now has a short film category offering $300 to the film that best tells a ‘recycle more, waste less’ story.

Photography categories and prizes

  • Category 1: Wildlife in Redlands’ parks and reserves, $100 cash prize for each: best bird, best mammal and best other (frog, insect, reptiles etc)
  • Category 2: Wildlife in your suburbs – who lives in your backyard?, $100 cash prize
  • Category 3: Native plants, $100 cash prize
  • Category 4: Junior (14 years and younger), $75 cash prize
  • Category 5: Short film ‘Recycle more, waste less’, $300 cash prize

Judging and announcement of winners will take place on Friday 27 November. Competition entries close 4pm Thursday 26 November. Visit the Redlands IndigiScapes Centre website at indigiscapes.redland.qld.gov.au for details on categories and conditions of entry.

Entries will be digitally exhibited from 1 December 2015 until 5 January 2016 at Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, Runnymede Road, Capalaba.

Last year’s overall winning photograph was a stunning reptile picture taken by Rosalind Dyer.
