Dredging of Weinam Creek

Dredging of Weinam Creek will commence this month as part of Council’s commitment to providing safe, reliable access to Moreton Bay. The eight-week project is part of Council’s regular maintenance schedule and will involved two dredge vessels operating in the creek. Minor disruptions may be caused during this period. Work is expected to be completed early August, weather permitting. For more information contact Council on 3829 8999.

New bypass lane at Birkdale

Construction of a bypass lane at the Birkdale Waste Transfer Station has commenced and will be completed by the end of the month, weather permitting. The bypass lane will enable vehicles with green waste to pass the queue of traffic to the gatehouse during peak periods, significantly reducing delays for all vehicles.

To avoid delays during construction, Council recommends residents minimise visits to Birkdale Transfer Station or use the Redland Bay Waste Transfer Station at 761-789 German Church Road. Please note Redland Bay station accepts all residential waste, however, can only accept commercial green waste.
