Redland City Council is calling on residents to help our threatened Glossy Black-Cockatoos, by taking part in the annual survey to track their population.
Redland City Council Environmental Spokesperson Councillor Lance Hewlett said Council was again teaming with the Glossy Black Conservancy for the annual survey to assist with the conservation of these magnificent birds.
“These birds are listed as vulnerable in Queensland so we need people to help with the annual count on Sunday 3 May so we can track their numbers,” he said.

“With previous bird sightings on the mainland and bay islands, volunteers are needed from throughout the Redlands for the count.”
To join in the survey day, residents are asked to attend a volunteer workshop to hone their bird identification skills and be assigned a survey area before the survey.
