Nearly 400,000 people saw the beauty of the Redlands recently without even stepping foot in the city thanks to a visit from four of Australia’s leading Instagrammers late last week.

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said the initiative saw the four Instagrammers spend two nights in the Redlands as part of the ‘Give Me Brisbane Any Day’ and localised ‘Give Me Redlands Any Day’ campaign, providing fantastic exposure to the local tourism product.

“The group visited local attractions including Sirromet Winery, Mt Cotton, Wellington Point, Cleveland Point and North Stradbroke Island, taking beautiful photos and capturing video that showed off some unique and beautiful sites in the Redlands,” she said.

“Together the four Instagrammers have 391,662 followers, showing the reach of social media as a medium in promoting the Redlands to potential visitors.

“Images shared by Instagram influencer Lauren Bath (@laurenepbath) during the day received as many as 14,000 likes, showing the impressive locations that were captured.”

Redland City Council tourism spokesperson and North Stradbroke Island Councillor Cr Craig Ogilvie said this exposure for the region supported the wider Give me Brisbane any day campaign activity including TV, digital, outdoor and print advertising.

“It is no secret the Redlands has some great tourist attractions and it is great to see those locations getting such exposure, including international followers of the four Instagrammers,” he said.

“Social media is a relatively new marketing medium and it is great to see it being used to such great effect.

“We also have some very talented locals who regularly share fantastic photos through Council’s social media platforms.

People can help fly the tourism flag by sharing their photos on social media using the Brisbane Marketing campaign hashtag #Brisbaneanyday or a localised version #Redlandsanyday.”

The Instagrammers travelled to Redlands as guests of Brisbane Marketing and Redland City Council, who assisted them throughout the two days.
