Below is the latest update on the Sraddie bushfire situation from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services:

Multiple fire crews remain on scene at a large vegetation fire in the Blue Lake area of Stradbroke Island. The main body of the fire is contained, except for a portion burning in inaccessible land in the Eighteen Mile Swamp area. A small amount of rain overnight appears to have eased the fire, however the temperature and forecast winds may increase fire activity. Observation aircraft will be used today to determine extinguishing strategies. Two other spot fires have broken out on the island. One fire is located to the north of Alfred Martin Way (also known as Tazi Road), and firefighters intend to back burn to contain it. The fire is a priority as it may affect Mt Hardgrave air traffic infrastructure. The second fire is near Canaipa Passage and crews will work on strategies to contain it today. There are four strike teams arriving today and other extra resources which will help strengthen containment lines ahead of the weekend, when conditions are expected to worsen. No further campgrounds have been affected however smoke and ember attack would have been hazardous had the beach not been closed. There has been no major property damage and the fire is not currently threatening any property. It has burnt out an area of 3500ha and is expected to burn for several days, with smoke affecting Brisbane and surrounding suburbs, as well as the bay islands.
