Individuals and community groups working to make the Redlands a better place are invited to apply for Redland City Council grants from January 27.

This second round of grants, designed to help deliver projects of community benefit, will close on 28 February.

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said this latest round was a timely expression of Council’s commitment to ensuring the delivery of essential grass-roots initiatives and projects.

“It comes at a crucial time for many in our community, such as those helping to rebuild Straddie after the wildfires which scorched much of the island recently,’’ Cr Williams said.

“These grants also help Council tap into the great ideas and considerable knowledge, skills and commitment of Redlands’ residents and groups, and support the work they do on behalf of our community.

“Over the years they have supported initiatives such as restoring wildlife habitats, as well as helping sporting clubs provide much needed opportunities for local youngsters, rebuilding community facilities and supporting cultural events.

“Council encourages anyone doing a worthwhile not-for-profit activity in Redlands to look at accessing this service.’’

This financial year, the program is offering a total $628,000 in funding, with nearly $280,000 available in this final round.

Grant categories this round include Organisation Support, Project Support and Conservation. Grants are also available under the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), an Arts Queensland and Redland City Council partnership to support local arts and culture.
