The Redlands’ award-winning natural attraction IndigiScapes has added a major State tourism award to its bulging trophy cabinet.
The Capalaba environmental centre’s Bush Tucker Experience was honoured for Excellence in Food Tourism at Friday night’s prestigious Queensland Tourism Awards at Brisbane’s Royal International Convention Centre.
Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said the award was yet another boost for the growing tourism credentials of the Redlands.

“The State awards are highly competitive and IndigiScapes should be congratulated for matching it with the best Queensland has to offer,’’ Cr Williams said.
“IndigiScapes has developed into the ‘one-stop shop’ for all things environmental in the Redlands, which prides itself on its natural environment.
“It helps define the Redlands and why it is the best place to live, work, relax and do business.”
It follows its win in the same category at the recent regional awards for the bush-themed cuisine at its Tea Garden Café. Last year, the Redland City Council-owned IndigiScapes also won the regional Eco Tourism category.
Three other award-winning local tourism enterprises were represented at the State awards: Mt Cotton Guesthouse, Stradbroke Island Events and Redlands Kayak Tours.
Council tourism spokesman Cr Craig Ogilvie said all of the local entrants in the State awards were meeting the challenge of reinforcing the Redlands as a world-class destination.
“Again they have shown just how much the Redlands has to offer, matching it with the best when it comes to excellence in customer service and innovation,’’ Cr Ogilvie said.
Council environment spokesman Paul Gleeson said IndigiScapes had become extremely popular for its bush tucker-themed teas and lunches in such a wonderful natural setting.
“Centre co-ordinator Jeanette Adams and her team have put together a wonderful treat for visitors,’’ he said.
“You can sample locally sourced foods to see what the Redlands has to offer, then stroll along walking trails through native botanic gardens, home to a 400-year-old tallowwood tree and many local animals, birds and reptiles.
“Visitors also can take a guided bush foods tour and learn much about the wisdom of the local Indigenous people.’’
