North Stradbroke Island residents are invited to a public forum on the island to have their say on one of the Redlands’ most exciting developments.

The invitation is open to anyone interested in attending the Redland City Council “open house” forum on the Toondah Harbour Priority Development Area project from 2pm-4pm on 17 August at the Dunwich Hall, corner of Ballow Road and Junner Street, North Stradbroke Island.

Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said this special community briefing session – one of three sessions on the Toondah Harbour PDA– would allow Straddie residents an opportunity to have their say on community issues and what the development should include.

“There is an opportunity for the Toondah Harbour project to fuel jobs and economic growth for the City and region and we are keen to hear what residents would like to see there, as well as what constraints and issues we need to consider,’’ Cr Williams said.

Division 2 Cr Craig Ogilvie (which includes North Stradbroke Island and Toondah Harbour), encouraged all residents to get along to the public forum.

“Toondah Harbour – the gateway to North Stradbroke Island – has the potential to be turned from a ferry terminal and car park into an exciting transport, retail and entertainment hub, as well being attractive to tourists,” he said.

“The vision is for an exciting mix of marine activities, parks, boardwalks and cycling paths, apartments, restaurants, shops and a hotel.”

Survey forms will be available at the open house, with an online survey on Council’s website for residents unable to attend.

Residents also will be kept fully posted on the progress of Toondah Harbour (Cleveland), as well as the Weinam Creek (Redland Bay) Priority Development Area project, at www.redland.qld.gov.au.
