Redland City Mayor Karen Williams today thanked residents for having their clean green waste on the footpath and ready for Council’s last round of post-storm kerbside collections.

Cr Williams said that Council crews had been very busy cleaning up after the wild weather resulting from ex-cyclone Oswald.

“Our free city-wide green waste kerbside collection is progressing well – as of today our crews have completed collections in Mount Cotton, Coochiemudlo Island, Dunwich, Thorneside, Lamb Island and Russell Island and as of Friday (15 February), a whopping 2600 cubic metres of green waste has been collected for mulching,” Cr Williams said.

“Collections are currently under way at Wellington Point, Capalaba, Point Lookout, Birkdale, Macleay Island, Victoria Point and Thornlands.”

Collection crews are yet to reach Ormiston, Amity Point, Sheldon, Alexandra Hills, Cleveland, Redland Bay and Karragarra Islands.

In addition to the free green waste kerbside collection, Council crews have already cleared most roads of debris and are currently cleaning beaches, parks and fire trails and tracks within our conservation reserves.

Cr Williams said Council mowing crews were continuing to work on Saturdays.

“The Redlands is looking decidedly lush with all the recent rain,” she said.

“If we haven’t got to you or your suburb yet, rest assured, we will over the coming weeks.”
